As an artist and photographer, I am continually seeking inspiration to create art. Some days just looking at the beauty in nature inspires creativity. On other days my inspiration comes from admiring art created by other artists.
When I studied photography in college one of the photographers that strongly influenced the current direction of my work was Jerry Uelsmann. His surreal thought provoking images are created in the darkroom using multiple enlargers for exposing each negative.
Many of his photo montages have been exhibited in galleries and museums all over the world. To this day Jerry still uses the traditional photo lab that he has been using for years. He has tried Photoshop but he feels more at home mixing his own chemicals and exposing his film to photographic paper.
If you would like to find out more about Jerry Uelsmann and his work, there is a great video on Lynda.com that shows how he creates his images in the darkroom.
One of my goals is to visit the Dali Museum in St Petersburg ,Florida. I’ve heard it is full of many of Dali’s original works and I look forward to that trip.
My work as an artist and photographer has been changing over the past few years. This synergy between photography and computer manipulated images seems to be pushing my art into a new direction. I am very excited about this evolution and the work that I have been creating.
